Sunday 03:40
I woke this morning. The Birds were singing The People waking They'd all started drinking... again. So I might join in. We'll light a fire For a good ol' BBQ Throw on some dishes With some veggie options too. There's nothing else to do In our little hideaway here on this Sunday

I was born in a hospital of Mercy Just outside the northern part of the city's CBD They drove me down the freeway Towards the shopping malls and the cheapened real estate And that's where I stayed Eighteen years went by so slow you would never even know I was going anywhere as I sat there on that back porch. So I filled my cup on that quarter acre block and walked out of the front door to look around. At my Suburban Town Where I felt the punch, I hit the ground. Now each step that I take leads me further away From the sights and lack of sound, In my Suburban Town Truth be told, i've been hanging out in somebody else's neighbourhood. Feeling like an orphan child here, so misunderstood. But there's something here in the land of the unknown That leads from returning to that home. To my Suburban town Where I felt the punch, I kissed the ground. Now each step that I take leads me further away From the lightning in the ground. Of my Suburban town I learnt to drive on the factory side, where the mountains stare you down like they were birds upon a wire. As soon as I could I grab the keys and popped the hood, And I drove so fast away from all the sadness running rife Through my life and my Suburban Town. Oh it once felt good but that turned around. Now each step that I take leads me further away From the lightning in the ground Of my suburban town.

Cera 04:09
Cera You never even gave me one more shot. Out on the road tonight, I saw your name in the Nevada lights. C'mon now Cera, don't give away what we had once become. I went and held you out on a wire, well maybe that was wrong. So out on the road you will ride tonight. I was the one to come home to, while you were alone on the road by yourself. Cera you traded my name for some runaway out on the road. Cera Lets call this whole thing off and start over new. I'll jump the next leaving plane, and fly myself across the ocean to you. You'd come away with me, I've heard your heading down towards Mexico Come on now Cera, Why don't you give me a call? And out under stars we can ride tonight. I was the one to come home to, while you were alone on the road by yourself. Cera you traded my name for some runaway out on the road. Now this path that i'm on, I don't know where it goes. Well you drifted away said you'd return to me when the rain began to fall. Ah but Cera I knew it, you weren't gonna be there at all. Why sink back in to your life so well known? For 24 years you'd been singing to the same old song. Now selfishly I want you here with me tonight. I was the one to come home to, while you were alone on the road by yourself. Cera you traded my name for some runaway out on the road. I was the one to come home to, while you were alone on the road by yourself. Now I keep waiting on my doorbell to ring but it will never come. No you will never come, never come, never come. You're never coming on home.

Angeline 04:46
So here I go again, drinking only things that kill me. Why? It must have been how you were acting last night. So i'll try hard to say what i've been thinking but your so far away From me and where I stand on this. So come and meet me at a compromise tonight. Cause this ain't going anywhere. Angeline, I know your head was fine, But nothing I said could have eased your mind working overtime Thinking about all that we weren't So lay your head when you get in tonight and dream away those lies. So this time I'm reading a story, from your story book. You write up and let me take a look. And I know your not coming back here sunshine. "Let it be known!" I know you were right, to be mad at me when we were running high. So come and meet me at a compromise tonight, Turn these old feelings into words. Angeline, I know your head was fine, But nothing I said could have eased your mind working overtime Thinking about all that we weren't. Now that that storm's blown through that shithole town You find yourself back in, inside your parents house. In the same bed that you slept when you were nine. Where the T.V's on, it's 4:05pm It's some god damn M*A*S*H re-run you've seen 10,000 times. And that same familar feeling creeps on in to your head. And you wish that you were dead. So come and meet me at a compromise tonight. Cause this ain't going anywhere. Angeline, I know your head was fine, But nothing I said could have eased your mind working overtime Thinking about all that we weren't.

Fuck it up 05:05
Only an Idiot knows, what is left behind at 7am. And only an idiot see's a beauty in Calamity. But you terrified me baby, into believing I was fine. That no thing could come between us, here in this empty checkout line. But only an idiot would believe that you were meant for me. So baby. Now where up against the wall. And sitting by the overpass watching time go by. You know that i'll be dreaming of the day, When all this information seems to float right by my way. But all that I can think about right now... Is how i'll probably fuck it up again. 10 years ago I would have laughed, Ha That a guy like me would ever ever last. 10 years of going it alone, with no one to call my own. Now it seems the times are changing, Since you walked right into my view. Everything I knew before this is dissipating in the blue. But only an idiot would believe, that you were meant for me. So baby. Now where up against the wall. And sitting by the overpass watching time go by. You know that i'll be dreaming of the day, When all this information seems to float right by my way. But all that I can think about right now... Is how i'll probably fuck it up again. But there were lights on the runway tonight that were guiding me home. To a place i've often heard about, sometimes seen, but never known. And i'm sure that you could take me there, But then again I used to believe in Jesus Christ. And I swore I was right. So only an idiot knows What it's like when everybody walks away. And only an idiot would believe, that you were meant for me.

Too many days spent out in the sunshine, Drinking the cheap red wine they left hanging from your clothesline. You say... Is causing the length of the years to grow shorter, but there's '"nothing you can do about" so just let time waltz away. Just gather yourself by the stroke of midnight And let the dawn come sway... Come on bottle baby don't let mornings make you cry. Keep on returuning to your drunken lullabies. And dance right through the evening, be the queen of your backyard All by yourself under summer stars Just count me out. Too many night spent out in the moonlight, Watching the nightbirds fly on by, out from the city to the riverside. Calling in favours from the distance. And tethering yourself to the heart of this town via community radio. Tuning in intently (while the suns decending), to the university show. Where they spin... Come on bottle baby don't let mornings make you cry. Keep on returuning to your drunken lullabies. And dance right through the evening, be the queen of your backyard All by yourself under summer stars Just count me Outside baby, they never knew that you want to be, Flying so high with the weight of a child over mountains you never could climb. And inside baby, they never knew that you wanted to see, every right that was turning out wrong thrown away like that talent show song. Come on bottle baby don't let mornings make you cry. Keep on returuning to your drunken lullabies. And dance right through the evening, be the queen of your backyard All by yourself under summer stars Just count me out.

Old Grey Comfort I hear you rolling in. It seems so long since I have had the chance to say. Old grey comfort "Where the hell you been?" For I could have used you so much more yesterday. But even if it's only temporary just stay around a while. Rain down hard upon this one strong broken land. And old grey comfort the delight is mine tonight, For you to be here amongst the world in which we live. But even if it's only temporary just stay around a while. Rain down hard upon this one strong broken land. And old grey comfort the delight is mine tonight, For you to be here amongst the world in which we live. Sailing on by us, giving all you have to give.

Blowout 04:01
All the lights went out in suburbia heaven last night. She moved to the city while he stayed at home water tight. She got a job working coffee down on the high street. She had a cool cool living in the hot summer heat. And there was life in her, but it was driving him to despair. And she said... Oh, I know we had a good thing going on, When sometimes a whole record aint as good as one song. But i'm in love with the woman i've grown into, and this is where I let go. We've been driving on the same worn tyres, And the blowout was surely just up around the bend. So he went straight to the station and moved out west To find a life worth living by a Fremantle sunset When all he ever wanted was a one way ticket back home. While back in the city she was moving on And they were driving on a dream, She Screamed, "Girl, you are the lifeblood of this world to me". Oh, I know we had a good thing going on, But I can't fool you anymore by stringing you along I am in love with a woman named Joan And she's the best lover I've even known. And we'd been driving on the same worn tyres, And the blowout was surely just up around the bend. A little while later they were talking on the phone. He said,"I sometimes still think about your girl but trust I moved on. When you moved to that city there was very little else for me to do, But forget about you." Oh, I know we had a good thing going on, When sometimes a whole record aint as good as one song. But seasons change and the loser gets laid. There's no point in chasing a win you don't want. And we'd been driving on the same worn tyres, And the blowout was surely just up around the bend.

Chemicals 03:31
So... Every now and then comes along, A moment that always gets passed up. Between you and a beautiful girl, that could have changed your world. For me, five stations down the old Hurstbidge line, And a book on Architecture in time, Was enough to have me dreaming of her, and all that she's worth. 'Cause those Chemicals, were firing like a companies fool, Whose sole purpose is to break all the rules, For the benefit of no one but him. So oh baby please, you were ten minutes of heaven to me On a Metro train from the city. Oh how I hope you return to me. So we ride, Frightened by the speed of the world. I caught your eye in the window reversed. But it seems all good things don't last long. By Dennis you were gone. 'Cause those Chemicals, were firing like a companies fool, Whose sole purpose is to break all the rules, For the benefit of no one but him. So oh baby please, you were ten minutes of heaven to me, On a Metro train from the city. Oh how I hope you return to me.
